"I aim to recreate the close harmonies I discover in open fields, marshes, rivers, and skies; to reveal the dialog between a tree line and the sky, a lone cedar and passing clouds, a man-made structure and its natural setting. I am successful not when I reconstruct the landscape, but when I represent the spirit of that moment I became connected with it."
