"Slipping Through," 2007

This painting began as a work from memory, based on fields I see on my frequent drives to Richmond. I wasn't pleased with the initial results, so it lay in my studio for months. Then I reworked it, utilizing wax to create more interesting texture in the foreground. Instead of a road disecting a field, the finished piece looked more like a creek slipping through a treeline — thus the title.
